The approach phase, extracted from a NASA flight dataset, was used to develop an algorithm which brought to the researchers’ attention a number of anomalies in the progression of the flights in question. The aim of this project, and its follow-ons, is to develop smart tools using AI to advance aviation safety.
Smart FDM is financed by the Malta Council for Science & Technology, for and on behalf of the Foundation for Science and Technology, through the FUSION: R&I Technology Development Program.
Collaborating with the Institute of Aerospace Technologies at the University of Malta, QuAero seeks to advance the state-of the art in the industry, At the same time , we provide consultancy services in several areas where we are subject matter experts. Lastly, but certainly not least, we are active trainers in the aerospace field.
Alan Muscat (second left) is the Company Director. After a successful career with the Maltese flag carrier as a Captain, he is responsible for QuAero Research and Innovation. Joseph, Karl, and Mark all occupy important roles in the organization. Joseph Markham (first left) is the goto person in charge of Safety Management and Crew Resource Management. Karl Falzon (second right) as Head of Company Operations, oversees the day-to-day running of QuAero. Mark Soler (right) takes care of company finances. Notwithstanding the assigned roles, everyone is flexible and takes on different responsibilities in the projects which QuAero is involved in.
