This project aims to continue from the results obtained from project SmartFDM and aims to add context to the anomaly discovery.

SmartAP proposes a novel concept of automation, where Artificial Intelligence (AI) trained to fly the aircraft is introduced to be able to monitor and control the automation systems whilst also communicating with the human pilots, keeping them in the loop and in the decision path.

An active sidestick can be configured to control aircraft heading and speed, thus rendering the tiller redundant and enabling taxi manoeuvers to be completed just by using the sidestick.

Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) forms an integral part of flight operations safety systems. Typically, aircraft data is recorded during flight, which is then used off-line to analyse the performance of the aircraft.

TOUCH-FLIGHT 2 built on the concepts developed in TOUCH-FLIGHT (R&I-2012-065) and proposed novel concepts for interaction between pilots and avionic systems based on the use of touch and speech technologies.

The work involved the use of a tablet-like device to allow the pilot to interact with the aircraft systems directly without needing to reach out to the main instrument panel, glare shield, overhead panel and central pedestal areas.

CLEAN-FLIGHT 2 continued the work of the CLEAN FLIGHT project (R&I-2011-021) by further developing the technology and concept of operations (Con-Ops) for optimal climbs and descents of commercial aircraft within Maltese airspace.

CLEAN-FLIGHT aimed to develop technologies, tools and procedures to allow aircraft to fly cleaner trajectories within Maltese airspace, thus contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions within this airspace.

Innovation in Research, Services & Training.

We strive to make tomorrow happen today.

Collaborating with the Institute of Aerospace Technologies at the University of Malta, QuAero seeks to advance the state-of the art in the industry, At the same time , we provide consultancy services in several areas where we are subject matter experts. Lastly, but certainly not least, we are active trainers in the aerospace field.

Meet QuAero.

Alan Muscat (second left) is the Company Director. After a successful career with the Maltese flag carrier as a Captain, he is responsible for QuAero Research and Innovation. Joseph, Karl, and Mark all occupy important roles in the organization. Joseph Markham (first left) is the goto person in charge of Safety Management and Crew Resource Management. Karl Falzon (second right) as Head of Company Operations, oversees the day-to-day running of QuAero. Mark Soler (right) takes care of company finances. Notwithstanding the assigned roles, everyone is flexible and takes on different responsibilities in the projects which QuAero is involved in.
